We Need Equal Pay Data

The petition to the EEOC reads:

We urge you to stand up for equal pay and stand against discrimination by ensuring the EEOC collects pay data by race, gender and job category. We’re counting on the EEOC to make sure we don’t allow gender and race wage gaps to continue to shortchange women and their families.

Daniel,

An effort that would require big companies to reveal salary data by gender and race to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) was blocked by the Trump administration.

This is about keeping employers accountable to working people. We cannot allow setbacks in the fight for equal pay to go unchallenged. Now, it’s up to working people to take action that can help end pay discrimination.

A recent report by the Institute for Women’s Policy Research found that women of all major racial and ethnic groups are paid less on the dollar than men of the same group and also earn less than white men.*

Wage discrimination isn’t an accident. And we don’t just have to accept it.

Sign now to tell the EEOC to collect equal pay data.

From sanitation workers in Memphis, Tennessee, to teachers across the country rising up, working people are taking collective action to bring about change. This is no different. Employers have hidden their bad wage practices simply because they were allowed to. Our freedom to join in union so we can speak up on and about the job is the source of working people’s power.

Collective action is fueled by the power of the actions many individuals take. We have the strength in numbers to pressure the EEOC to require the data that will help end wage discrimination once and for all. You can start, with just a simple click.

In Solidarity,
