To commemorate the 100th anniversay of the historic Russian Revoltion of 1917, the CPC Nanaimo Club will be hosting a community potluch. There will be music, dancing, family activities, and a movie on the historic October Revolution. Doors will be open to anyone who wants to learn more about the history of Bolshevik Revolution or meet local members of the Communist Party.
During the revolution of 1917, Russia was still using the outdated Julian calendar, which is 13 days behi...nd the modern Gregorian calendar. This is why the Bolshevik Revolution is sometimes refered to as "Red October" or "The October Revolution". According to the Julian calendar the storming of the Winter Palace took place on October 25th, even though we now recognize it as happening on November 7th.
