Angelo D’Angelo, general secretary of the PC USA
By Daniel Paquet dpaquet1871@gmail.com
TORONTO - He told me that he was living in New
York. His chief preoccupation was to
tell me rightfully about the problems within the Communist Party USA: especially its drift to opportunism by the leadership
faction, at the head of the party. He
asked me to help him, I volunteered readily.
I then started to learn about the US working class, its history,
traditions and formerly its revolutionary stand. A reminder: the US Communist movement had over 500 000 members in this country in the 1950’s.
He really and approvingly supports the cause of the
working class in USA and all over the world.
He is devoted to the peoples of the former Soviet Union. Thus, he introduced me to Northstar
Compass, a Toronto-based international magazine published in French, Spanish,
English and Russian by his long standing friend and comrade Michael Lucas.
In September 2011, they invited me to the Third World Congress of the International
Council for Friendship and Solidarity with the Soviet People which took
place in Toronto. It was quite a
gathering of dedicated people who fight for the Soviet people. Angelo supports
comrade Joseph Stalin’s legacy, but this is not the basis on which he builds
his relations with progressive people.
Frankly, Angelo and I have the same historical appreciation of the role played
by this outstanding working class leader; but we are aware that the
overwhelming majority of the US and Canadian working class, under ideological
pressure, don’t agree with such a statement.
We live with it.
For New Year’s Eve, we allowed ourselves to publish a
new theoretical journal on line, Ideological Fightback, which stands
against opportunism within the ranks of the world communist movement and in USA;
eventually, it could become the embryo of a new communist paper in USA.
At last, when you deal with North America, you can

. We just love our countries, the motherland
of a strong working class, which is engaging itself more and even more beyond
the famous “Letter to the American
Workers” written by Lenin (who predicted this development) at the inception
of Soviet Russia. Soviet communists knew that American working class could not
help at the moment of the Russian revolution, but it was “partie remise”. As Marx and
Engels said previously in the Communist Manifesto: “What the
bourgeoisie, therefore, produces, above all, is its own grave-diggers. Its fall
and the victory of the proletariat are equally inevitable.” We, “in the belly of the beast”, have no
doubt about it!
