23rd Winter Olympics Close
Pyongyang, February 26 (KCNA) -- The 23rd Winter Olympics which opened in Phyongchang of south Korea on Feb. 9 came to a close.
Its closing ceremony was held at the Phyongchang Olympic Stadium on Sunday.
Present there were a high-level delegation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea led by Kim Yong Chol, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and its National Olympic Committee delegation and cheering group and a cheering group of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan.
Attending it were President Moon Jae In and personages of political and social circles of south Korea, President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach, high-ranking personages from different countries, foreign guests and sports fans.
When the players of the north and south of Korea participating in the 23rd Winter Olympics and other players and agents of different countries and region from across the world entered the stadium, the spectators welcomed them with applause.
Kim Yong Chol and President Moon Jae In and his wife stood up to wave to the players of the north and the south when they were going past the platform.
Amid the playing of the Olympic anthem, the Olympic flag was pulled down and conveyed to the host country of the 24th Winter Olympics.
The chairperson of the organizing committee of the Olympics and the president of the International Olympic Committee made speeches to be followed by a declaration of the close of the Olympics and the fire on the cauldron was put out.
Prior to the closing ceremony, Kim Yong Chol met and exchanged warm greetings with the DPRK players participating in the Olympics. -0
